Activities
The main function of the State Election Commission
Part-9 and Part-9-K were added to the Constitution of India in 1992 with amendments 73 and 74. Articles 243-D and 243: Supervision, guidance and control over the preparation of voter lists for local body elections from V-K are vested in the State Election Commission.

Articles 243-D and 243 of the Constitution of India: Acts of VK and related Local Self Government Institutions i.e. Section-20 (1) of Gujarat Panchayat Act 1993, Section-9 (2) of Gujarat Municipalities Act-1963 and Mumbai Provincial Municipal As per the provisions of Section 8 (ii) of the Corporation Act, 1949, the State Election Commission has to prepare and publish the ward wise voter lists of the local bodies and amend them from time to time.
According to the laws of local self-governing bodies, voter lists of local self-governing bodies have to be prepared from the electoral rolls of the assembly constituency. The State Election Commission has appointed state government officials as voter registration officers for this. The Commission has conducted timely elections by preparing voter lists of local self-governing bodies from the electoral rolls of the Assembly constituency for the elections scheduled after 1993.
From the electoral rolls of the assembly constituencies, the ward wise electoral rolls of the local self-governing bodies are regularly prepared and revised from time to time.
Voter lists of Assembly constituencies are submitted to the Election Commission of India. Prepared on 1-1-2009. From which the date of local self-government institutions. As on 1-1-2009, the voter list without photos has been published.
The work of preparing and publishing the voter list with photos of all the local bodies will be carried out in the next period from the voter lists with photos of the assembly constituencies.
